SMCCI attended the Budget 2026 Conversation (Malay Language Session), organised by REACH and supported by Budget 2026.Â
The session brought together participants to share feedback, concerns, and hopes for Singapore’s next phase of growth. It was a meaningful platform to better understand the issues that matter to communities, workers, families, and businesses.Â
A key takeaway was the importance of ensuring that skills upgrading leads to real employment outcomes. Participants raised concerns about the gap between training and job opportunities, as well as the challenges faced by mature workers despite upskilling efforts.Â
The discussion also highlighted the need to support businesses in adopting AI and transforming for the future. For Malay/Muslim enterprises, this includes creating more opportunities to expand internationally while ensuring that digital transformation remains practical, ethical, and relevant to business needs.Â
Participants also emphasised the importance of uplifting Singaporeans together. More support was suggested for larger families, single parents, caregivers, vulnerable groups, and middle-income households.Â
For SMCCI, the session reaffirmed the importance of continued engagement, feedback, and collaboration. As Singapore prepares for Budget 2026, SMCCI remains committed to representing the voices and aspirations of the Malay/Muslim business community.Â
