29 January 2026

Member of Parliament, Mr Saktiandi Supaat, distinguished guests, members of the SMCCI Board, our panelists, partners from the Tanjong Katong Complex developer team, and members of the SMCCI community — a very good afternoon and thank you for being with us today.

Today’s Townhall is not just a dialogue session; it is a response to the concerns and aspirations we have heard from our members over the past year. Many of you are navigating rising costs, manpower challenges, and tighter margins, while also looking for clearer pathways to grow, collaborate, and access opportunities.

This session reflects SMCCI’s commitment to listen, to share what we are doing differently, and to ensure that our programmes and initiatives remain aligned with your needs. You will notice that today’s programme includes live polling and an open Q&A segment, allowing your voices to help shape our priorities moving forward.

A key highlight this afternoon is the briefing on the redevelopment of Tanjong Katong Complex. TKC represents not just a physical space, but a renewed opportunity for businesses to be part of a refreshed, community-anchored ecosystem — particularly for members exploring new retail, incubation, or collaboration approaches. Beyond tenancy, this redevelopment opens doors for partnerships, pilot concepts, and long-term engagement within a revitalised commercial and cultural hub. We are pleased to have the developer team here to share insights on the vision, plans, and opportunities ahead.

As we move into the panel discussion and fireside chat, I encourage everyone to engage openly, ask questions, and share your perspectives. SMCCI’s role is to convene, connect, and act together with our members and partners.

Thank you once again for being here, and I look forward to a meaningful discussion this afternoon.
