Dr Abdul Malik Hassan, President of SMCCI,
Mr Sazzali Sabandi, Head of Islamic Banking Department, Maybank Singapore,
friends, guests, and aspiring entrepreneurs — a very good afternoon and Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
You would know that among my portfolios, I am also a Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Education. You would hear me often speak about the power of education.
I would also say that, in recent years and in my previous line of work, I have been acquainted with the power of business, and how it can change lives. I believe this is also a journey in education, because you are learning from the seniors here the more experienced individuals, those who have persevered through the challenges of building a business and are now uplifting themselves and their families.
So I leave you with three key ideas.
The first is that this is a journey of transformation for you. Not only in terms of the educational journey, but also in building confidence in pursuing your business ideas. Whether it is a home-based venture or something larger. This process also transforms you as a person. Your confidence, your belief in your potential, and in your families’ potential.
This is not just about learning how to build a business; it is about rediscovering yourself. To look towards the future with promise and hope. The second thing is that this journey creates a multiplier effect. Why you are here today is not just for yourself, it is for your family, your children, and the generations to come. Whatever impact you make today will shape not only your own life, but also future generations. It is truly a powerful journey you are on.
The last idea is about community. Recognise that individuals here, such as Mr Abdul Malik, have also faced their share of challenges and everyone is rooting for you. Take the opportunity to find your community here and grow alongside one another.
And finally, allow me to thank SMCCI and Maybank Singapore for empowering individuals and families through this meaningful programme.
