Milestone celebration brings together business leaders and partners to honour seven decades of enterprise and look ahead to the next chapter of business growth
Singapore, 30 September 2026 — The Singapore Malay Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SMCCI) will commemorate its 70th anniversary on 23 October 2026, marking seven decades of supporting enterprises, building business connections and creating pathways for growth.
The SMCCI 70th Anniversary & Awards Night, to be held at Fairmont Singapore, will be graced by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam as Guest of Honour, alongside Senior Minister of State Zaqy Mohamad, Patron of SMCCI. The evening will bring together more than 350 business leaders, entrepreneurs, partners and stakeholders to celebrate SMCCI’s journey and the businesses and individuals who have contributed to its story.
The milestone celebration is supported by Platinum Sponsors SME Centre @ SMCCI, Golden Chance, Royal Kings Group and TAQWA Organisation.
70 Years of Enterprise
Established in 1956, SMCCI has evolved alongside Singapore’s business community from its early roots as a business chamber serving the Malay business community to a platform that connects enterprises with opportunities, partnerships, capabilities and new markets.
Across seven decades, the Chamber has supported generations of entrepreneurs and enterprises through changing economic conditions and business landscapes. Today, SMCCI continues to evolve its role as businesses navigate digital transformation, manpower challenges, changing consumer needs and opportunities to expand beyond Singapore.
SMCCI President Dr Abdul Malik Hassan said the anniversary is an opportunity to recognise the generations that have shaped the Chamber while keeping its focus firmly on the future.
“Seventy years represents generations of entrepreneurs, business owners and leaders who have contributed to the business ecosystem we have today. We are proud of that legacy, but our responsibility is also to look ahead to ensure SMCCI remains relevant, responsive and able to connect businesses with the right opportunities, partnerships and support to grow.”
Celebrating Business Excellence
A key highlight of the evening will be the SMCCI Business Excellence Awards 2026, which will recognise businesses, entrepreneurs and individuals for their achievements and contributions across different areas of enterprise.
Fourteen awards will be presented across areas including entrepreneurship, internationalisation, digital transformation, sustainability, mentorship, social impact and brand excellence.
The awards reflect the breadth and evolution of the business community SMCCI has served over the past 70 years from established and community-rooted enterprises to a new generation of businesses embracing technology, international markets and new approaches to growth.
Looking Beyond 70
As SMCCI enters its next chapter, the Chamber will continue to strengthen its role as a connector and enabler for businesses, with a focus on business development, capability building, digital transformation and internationalisation.
The 70th anniversary is therefore not only a celebration of SMCCI’s past, but also a moment to look ahead at how the Chamber can create stronger partnerships, open new pathways for businesses and respond to the changing needs of enterprises.
